Kites are made of multiple pieces of fabric. They’re a smart puzzle that combines structures, panels, and fabrics interconnected by advanced seaming and stitching techniques. They are particularly susceptible to damage and a small tear or hole that looks insignificant can in some cases result in the kite being torn in half.
Unlike spinnakers, parachutes or tents the material used in a kite’s canopy is not Ripstop Nylon. Modern kitesurfing kites are made of Polyester Ripstop and threads because compared to Nylon Ripstop they are stiffer and have a superior UV resistance. Unfortunately, because they are more easily available and their price, Nylon Ripstop and off-the-shelf threads are wrongly used in many repair centers…
Cyprus-Wind Sailmakers is a certified repair center for many of the kitesurfing industry-leading brands. This means that we only use genuine products. A large stock of original threads, laminates, Polyester Ripstop and Dacron cloths which have been directly supplied from the manufacturers make it possible for an exact color match and near-invisible repairs.
None of our work relies on glue, sticky tape or DIY repair kits. Genuine materials are used to protect the integrity of the kite design, look and value. Your kite will fly exactly the way it did before the damage occurred.
Also available are replacement bladders for any kite (we make our own), valves and associated hard wear .
